Remembering 9/11

The memorials and replays of all that heart-rending video footage continue on this day. It is appropriate that we not forget those whose lives ended that day, whether they were individuals contributing to the strength of our nation through going about their daily responsibilties, or whether they were first responders knowingly putting themselves in harm’s way for their fellow human beings and in so doing lost their lives or their health.

But my heart aches today, too, for all those families, friends, co-workers and residents left behind, for their heartache and for the ongoing impact of emotional and physical injuries, some of which are only now becoming recognized.

It is still so awful to contemplate. Please God it doesn't ever happen again.

I cnan't deal with most of the hoopla. Too close to home. I knew people in NYC, Shanksville and here in DC. Dianne

PS, leaving for CA October 4th so I am around for a few more weeks.

What's awful is not knowing for sure that your loved one died in one of those towers. No body, no nothing. I would have preferred to see a corpse...

Yes, 9/11 is one of those tragedies we'll never forget. As you may have noted with the link on my current 9/11 post I recapped my recollections of that day in a ten year anniversary post last year.

Yes, I remember that terrible day so well and my heart aches for those that remain.
We knew firemen that were involved in the rescue of the towers.
Fortunately they lived but carry the mental and physical scars to this day.
We worked at the convention center just 3 weeks before the event and the company we worked for is located on Wall Street. Everyone ok but just too, too close. We didn't know if they were alive until several weeks later when communications were back up and we could talk to them.
I get such a knot in my tummy just thinking about it.

Yes, we absolutely need to remember this date.

Yes, too, here I have to have an identity. LOL But I'm here and feel triumphant.

Can you believe that it's been almost 13 years still 9/1 happened? Time fly's.
