Good Words

Sorrow looks back.
Worry looks around.
Faith looks up.

The words above are so true. I spent much of my younger years doing more of the first two lines. The third line is a succinct recipe for embracing the peace that passes all understanding.

I borrowed the lines from Ginny Hartzler’s excellent August 6, 2019, post about service dogs in training.

  1. I really need to practice that last. It really does help to Look UP but I have such a hard time not worrying. I told my dr/surgeon I had for my broke leg...well, he would ask why I was worried....I told him cause I was good at it...I was a professional worrier.

But I came across these verses and finally thought I just might survive:

    Psalm 18: 31-33
For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?32 It is God who arms me with strength,And makes my way perfect.33 He makes my feet like the feet of deer,And sets me on my high places.

Notice that last verse? It could have been written just to tell me things would be okay.

  3. Psm. 18:31-33 means so much to me too.
Where can I go, but to the Lord?
My younger son's family lives in turmoil right now with a step daughter that has some severe issues.
I am constantly praying for them.
I can't go into detail publicly but only God ....
My heart is aching and I cling to your whole post and it's meaning.

  4. Those are words that make perfect sense. Most of us need to work on #3.

  5. Now that I'm older I realize that I should have prayed more and worried less. Took a long time to learn this, but gratefully it's beginning to sink in.

  6. Wouldn't it be Heaven to sit together and share Life together with a cuppa?
