Breakfast on a bench

In the few months after we had moved into our new downsized home, I had already found one of my favorite spots--the window seat in a bump-out at the north side of our house.
A favorite perch
Hubby sneaked around and captured me enjoying a casual breakfast of a toasted bagel and hot tea one November morning.

I had already surrounded myself with my toys: laptop computer, binoculars for watching birds at the feeders, my birding field guide and a plush cartoon-character throw one of our grandsons had outgrown.

That was in 2016. I haven’t outgrown the throw, my toys or the hot tea. With a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, though, I no longer have that casual bagel breakfast.
Cool November morn; hot, hot tea

And both Hubby and I are still enjoying those window seats, now my principal blogging location.

The allure is good back support, room to elevate my legs comfortably, that handy window sill on which to park my mug of hot tea, and the restful view of the natural world when I give my eyes a break from the computer screen.

  1. Oh, I love your perch for your morning tea and meditation. What a view.
I do sorely miss my bagel breakfast...makes me drool just thinking about it, especially warm with plenty of butter and cream cheese on it..ok, got to stop...
Its back to sunshine and no rain this morning. I haven't heard a single bird either.
I am missing that as I sit here at the dining room table plunking away on my laptop.
    Have a great day.

  2. Thanks for the visit Sue. Evidently you are continuing in your determination to stay in the diet-controlled category. Your shared experiences have strengthened my decision to follow your example. It was also encouraging to learn that a doctor existed who acknowledges the possibility of diet-controlled diabetes and encourages patients to work toward that.

  3. I adore this! I would never leave! ever since I can remember, I have always wanted a bay window. I hope you can find a snack just as comforting as a bagel and hot tea. What is replacing it?

  5. it looks like the perfect spot, and I have heard and read many times we should stare off into space or trees or sky to rest our eyes from close up focus. I gave up bagels but still have them once in a great while. but I don't have diabetes but it looms if I don't watch myself

  7. A bay window with a window seat has always been high on my wish list. It is good to know that it really does bring a lot of pleasure. So glad you have that spot to bring you joy.

  8. That is a pretty spot for your morning tea, breakfast, and blogging. We have a sun room that overlooks the backyard and I was very excited about the prospects of sitting out there in the midst of the trees. Alas, the reality is, it’s only comfortable a few weeks of the year! Too hot in summer, too cold in winter. Not very practical!
