What I’m Reading Lately—Snow on Magnolias

I just found and “bought” the Amazon free Kindle book edition of Snow on Magnolias, the second book in the Bon Amie series by Hattie Mae. Bon Amie is the small Louisiana bayou town that is the setting of Hattie Mae’s two novels.

I recently reviewed the first book, Under the Sassafras, here. I enjoyed that book, now at $3.99 in the Kindle edition. I don’t know how long the free offer for Snow will last, but if the characters are as strong and endearing as in the first book, my “investment” will be worthwhile. Now I am off to check if the latest Bon Amie book has shown up on my Kindle.

  1. I have some Bon Ami! It is an old fashioned scouring powder, like Comet.

  7. I've been getting info on free books, too, from Book Bub. Some of them are really worth it! I think I may have gotten this one.

  8. Thank you!!! I will indeed look up that book. Sounds like it's right up my alley. I have downloaded so many samples where the reviewers unanimously give great reviews and I end up so disappointed. Maybe I expect too much from authors...like no misspelled words and proper grammar. :)

  9. I think I should trade in my Nook... Your restaurant visit in Williamsburg brought up a fond memory I had of our visit to the same place for lunch....:)

  10. I wish my eyesight was better. For me it is quite hard to read much now. I finished one of Khaled Hosseini's books. "And The Mountains Echoed". It was a challenge to finish it but I was hooked and spent several days to get through it. Poor Buddy was left to entertain himself.

Friends are important and I feel like you are one of mine too.
You know the door is always open if you ever make it out our way again.
Black Bear Diner will be on the agenda...(:0)
