New Year’s Day bridge walkers, from left, Josh, Mike, me, Becky and
Matthew
Year 2014 started with a visit from my brother Mike his
wife Sonya, offspring Amanda, Becky and Matthew, and Becky’s fiancé Josh.
They drove all night from Virginia on the
Atlantic Coast to join us for New Year’s Day on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A New Year’s lunch of not-quite-traditional black-eyed peas and the
Virginia crew’s catching up on sleep was first on the agenda.
Later four of the six intrepid travelers walked the Biloxi Bay Bridge, giving me more than 1.6 miles therapy roundtrip. Mike and I caught up on family
adventures, shouting over bridge traffic noise when necessary. Becky and Josh
ambled along together. Matthew took photos and posted to Facebook.
I appreciated Josh getting the photo all of us on our New Year’s
Day 2014 bridge walk.
Breaking bread with family, French bread of course; Hubby’s
fixing black-eyed peas just the way I like them (Trappey’s black-eyed peas with jalapeno
peppers); an invigorating walk on the bridge, and lots of laughter: It was a
great way to start the new year.
